The 2014 Chevrolet Spark sub-compact will not be available with the four-speed automatic transmission but will gain a CVT, General Motors confirmed yesterday.
Initially revealed by GM Inside News, the rumor was later confirmed by Detroit, who said that the Chevrolet Spark will switch form automatic transmissions to CVTs mid-summer in order to offer improved fuel economy.
The four-door sub-compact will get to keep its five-speed manual gearbox and Chevrolet claims new fuel economy figures should be around 38 mph on the highway for both transmissions. The current four-speed automatic delivers an estimated 32 mpg combined, while CTV estimated are yet to be released.
Automatic headlamp control will be another new feature to be found on the Chevrolet Spark. Also, the new electric Spark EV is expected to enter production this year.
