The design work what impressed us the most. The flagship sedan features bulging wheelarches, which at the back intertwine with the angles of the door. There’s also a bulge in the power sill that reflects light beautifully and the nose is designed around a strong mid-line that shapes the whole front end. Overall, there’s more than a little Camaro in this thing, from the shape of the rear arch to the protruding lip at the front.

“Our design team was challenged to create a new classic, but that didn’t mean relying on nostalgia,” said John Cafaro, director of North America passenger car exterior design. “This is very much a contemporary car, with design elements, craftsmanship and attention to detail that complement its advanced technology and performance.”
But if you’re looking to buy an Impala right now, you’re in for a bit of a disappointment, because the brand new luxury flagship of the Chevy range is just an early reveal. The production lines will only start churning out these Impalas in early 2013.

The new Impala will come with three engine choices, namely a 3.6-liter V6 with 303 hp, a new 2.5-liter four-banger with 195 hp and a 2.4-liter with eAssist that is supposed to combine 35 mpg with 182 hp.

The front suspension is a MacPherson strut, while the rear features multi-link with coil springs and stabilizer bar.
