The National Biodiesel Board has awarded General Motors with this year’s Innovation Award for the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel compact, the only passenger car sold in the US that can run on B20 biodiesel blends.
Introduced about a year ago, the Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel comes with a 2.0-liter engine that delivers 151 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque and returns 46 miles per gallon when equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle can travel at least 700 miles on a single tank or 10 hours on the highway without having to stop.

GM says the Cruze Clean Diesel emits 90 percent less nitrogen oxide and particulate emissions compared to conventional diesels when running on B20, a mixture of 80 percent regular diesel and 20 percent biodiesel.
