Meet the next generation of the MBW X5, which is supposedly going to be revealed in 2013. Our spy photographers have tracked the third generation and now sufficient data has been gathered for us to compose a digital image aka rendering of the soft-roading vehicle.

The new design of the 3-Series will be carried over to some degree to the SUV range, meaning the headlights will touch the side of the grille. These will probably also get the full-LED treatment, while at the back T-shaped clusters will give more character to the rear of the vehicle.

The F15 generation of the X5 will be based on a more modular architecture, built using aluminum and high-strength steel. Rumor has it that a long wheelbase version will arrive as well, catering to customers in China and the US.

Since the vehicle will be lighter, this will be the first time that BMW will also use its four-cylinder engines. Especially note-worthy is the expected arrival of an ActiveHybrid model powered by a 2.0-liter diesel with an advanced electric system.
