The production version of the 2014 Acura MDX will be officially unveiled at the 2013 New York Auto Show later this month.
Based on the MDX Concept introduced at Detroit in January, the new Acura MDX is looking to redefine the 7-passenger luxury SUV segment with "its sharpened performance, efficient design and refined cabin".
Thanks to a completely new platform and a longer wheelbase, Acura promises improved ride quality with increased legroom and third-row seat access, as well as increased fuel efficiency.
The Japanese automaker hasn't released any performance numbers for its new 7-passenger SUV, but announced that the MDX will be powered by a direct-injected 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 engine with front-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive on the options list.
And because a luxury SUV is nothing without the latest driving and safety technologies, Acura will equip the MDX with features such as Multi-Angle Rearview Camera, Lane Keeping Assist System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Advanced Compatibility Engineering II body structure, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning systems.
The car will be unveiled on March 27 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
