2013 Yamaha YZF-R250 To Surface at EICMA

The battle in the quarter-liter segment becomes fiercer by the month, as it's clear that more and more manufacturers believe this is the beginning of a new sales wave, especially in markets with large population, but rather limited financial power.

Yamaha is definitely going to try and bite as much from the 250cc cake Honda and Kawasaki plan to have almost all for themselves. Announced in a concept form, the new Yamaha YZF-R250 is a direct competitor with the CBR250 and 300 Ninja in the street/ sport bikes.

With manufacturing most likely to begin in early 2013 and sales probably starting later next year, the all-new Yamaha YZF-R250 will be a truly expected apparition, given the heritage of the series' bigger models, the R6 and R1.

The bike will be produces in India and this will help keep the costs down, with a rumored selling price under $4,000 (€3,125). Touted power ratings are around 35 HP and for a light bike this could mean 0-100 km/h in around 7 seconds, which is another appealing feature.

The YZF-R250 will be consistent with the design of it's larger siblings so, we're looking forward to see it entering the competition against other Japanese bikes and Indian ones as well (Pulsar being one).
