Ever wondered what the Yaris would look like a sedan? This is the third generation Vios B-segment sedan, just unveiled by Toyota Motor Thailand and known as the Yaris Sedan or Belta in some markets. Voilà, as the French would put it.
We first showed you a few photos of this new car earlier today, but now full details, video footage and photos have surfaced as the car went on exhibition at the 2013 Bangkok Motor Show this week.
Esthetically, the Vios is very interesting, even by our standards. With a V-shaped nose and large trapezoidal grille, it looks like the baby brother of the Camry. Although wall, its tinted headlights and large blacked out areas give it lots of character as well. The biggest visual change, however, is the fact that the headlights have projector lenses instead of conventional reflector-backed bulbs, which makes it look upmarket.
As far as dimensions are concerned, this budget sedan is quite big, measuring 4,410 mm in length, though the with of 1,700 mm is in line with the B-segment. Because of the size difference to the 3,885 mm Yaris/Vitz, Toyota has managed to make a sloping roof and a large boot.
Power comes from a conventional 1.5-liter (1,497 cc) engine, known internally as the 1NZ-FE. It features VVT-i and puts out 80 kW (109 hp) at 6000 rpm with 141 Nm (103 lb·ft) of torque at 4200 rpm. This is available with either a five-speed manual, or in the case of high-end Vios modes a four-speed automatic.
