While most races involving a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and a Nissan GT-R go for rolling starts, the one we have here saw the going for a standing take-off.
A drag race that sees a Mustang Shelby GT500 duking it out with an R35 GT-R shouldn't be all that special, but the one we have here is and that's because, unlike most brawls of this kind, the fight sees the two speed demons going for a standing start.
That's right - the 'Stang driver allowed Godzilla to use its massive all-wheel-drive take-off advantage for this adventure. Nevertheless, since we're talking about a muscle car that mixes traction issues with a clutch, the score had to be settled somehow.
As such, the adventure included two races: the first saw the GT-R driver simply taking off as if the whole thing was an impromptu traffic light meet, while the second allowed the guy to use the infamous launch control feature of the Nissan halo car.
How did this influence the results? We won't ruin the fun of the clip below by throwing spoiler your way, so the answer lies behind the "play" button at the bottom of the page.
Nevertheless, there are few aftermarket aspects we need to discuss here. First of all, the GT500 driver was confident enough to go for the dig race thanks to his Mustang packing some serious upgrades.
To be more precise, the muscle machine had been gifted with an upper throttle body, a complete exhaust and an ECU remap, with the owner claiming his Mustang delivers 730 hp to the rear wheels.
As for the GT-R, we're dealing with a 2014 model that has been gifted with plenty of bolt-ons, but we don't know the exact mods. Regardless, both drivers explained their cars were running on pump gas.
Unfortunately, this is an adventure that took place on the street, so we'll drop the usual "take it to the track, people!"
