2013 Mustang GT Livered After P-51 Fighter [Photo Gallery]
A one-off 2013 ford Mustang has been livered with the same colors as a World War II squadron of African American P-51 Mustang fighter pilots, and will soon be sold off at charity auction July 26 at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
The Mustang has been finished in polished aluminum with Race Red and Schoolbus Yellow accents. It’s also been livered with the logo of the US Air Force. New 20-inch Forgiato wheels were added, but perhaps the coolest feature is the quad side exhaust, which mimics that on the P-51.
“The perseverance and excellence displayed by the Tuskegee Airmen are qualities we also celebrate at Ford,” said Edsel B. Ford II, a member of Ford’s board of directors. “With this year’s beautiful ‘Red Tails’ edition Mustang, we’ve captured the recognizable symbols in honor of their important role in our history, and paired it with the innovation our Ford design and engineering teams build into all of our products.
