Honda shows the 2014 iteration of their RC213V machinery in Spain. Having skipped the post-race test at Barcelona, Honda went straight to the Motorland Aragon circuit, but the torrential rain has hampered their plans.
With the heavy downpour, only Bradl and Bautista ventured on the track and put in several laps, while Pedrosa and Marquez preferred to remain in the dry.

MCN has talked to Takeo Yokoyama, Honda's Technical Director and found out that the Magneti Marelli ECU, mandatory as of 2014, is not present on the RC213V yet, as the engineers are now focusing on power delivery and fuel efficiency, to make the engine comply with the rigors of carrying only 20 liters of fuel from now on.

The 2014 RC213V is an all-new machine, with a new chassis and a new power unit, and Honda is porting software from their own ECU to the Marelli unit. Yokoyama also said that the technicians are ready to offer the new chassis earlier than 2014 in case Pedrosa and Marquez test it and find out that it brings a worthy performance improvement even from this stage.

The strategy is not new for Honda, as they did exactly the same thing last year, allowing Dani Pedrosa to test the 2013 chassis. He loved it so they prepped the 2012 bike with the next year chassis, allowing Dani to win no less than 6 out of the last 9 races.

Alongside HRC, we also hope the weather clears out, as we want to find out the factory riders' impressions on the new racing machinery.
