When McLaren introduced the 2013 Model Year 12C (still called MP4-12C at the time), they gave the supercar quite an update, adding a hefty list of tech and feature goodies. We noticed the differences in our McLaren 12C Coupe and Spider test drives, but we didn’t get to put the two cars head to head. Well, that’s exactly what the video below shows.
The clip brings us a 2012 12C Coupe and a 2013 12C Coupe, both being 100 percent stock. The two are being drag raced, both from a standstill and with a rolling start.

The 2013 model comes with an extra 25 PS, offering a total of 625 PS (616 HP), while its SSG gearbox was also tweaked. As you’ll be able to see behind the “play” button, you can really feel the difference, regardless of the type of start chosen.

By the way, the setup chosen to illustrate the difference was street racing. All in the name of science, of course.
