The all-new Mazda6 is without a doubt a good looking car, especially since it looks pretty much the same as the Takeri concept that previewed it. Following its KODO design language, the Japanese automaker has managed to modern elegance without lemon-sucking looks.
Their design achievement has just been recognized by the prestigious ‘red dot design award' that it just received.
“We were aiming with the new Mazda6 to awaken the observer’s senses and turn heads with an uncompromising balance and proportion that instantly makes one want to get in the car and drive,” says Peter Birtwhistle, chief designer at Mazda’s European R&D Centre. “The red dot award for product design is a very prestigious testimony to what we have achieved at Mazda with the bold expressions personified by KODO."
“With our ‘KODO - Soul of Motion’ design ethos, we are taking our concept cars and driving them off the show stand and onto the road,” says R&D boss Peter Birtwhistle. “You only have to look at our recent design studies to realise just how closely our production models mimics our concept cars.”
