2013 Lincoln MKZ Could Be Delayed Until Second Half of 2012

Yes, it’s the MKZ, which according to Ford Inside News will be delayed until the second half of the year. You’d be forgiven for thinking this is due to the technical difficulties with the platform or the introduction of a better, more efficient engine, as this is usually the case with delays.
However, the main reason for the wait is actually related to cosmetics. The current generation Fusion and MKZ are blood brothers, and you can tell that simply by looking at the side profile. Sure, the Lincoln might have more chrome in its teeth and different paint, but you can still tell there’s a bit of Ford left in ever panel.
In addition, the company execs have decided that the hybrid MKZ deserves a different look to its standard sedan counterpart. We don’t think there are to many changes coming different colors and chrome hue for the grille are in order, as well as other changes that indicate efficiency.
Lincoln made headlines last summer when it announced the 2011 MKZ Hybrid would be priced the same as the gasoline version of the car, offering 41/36 mpg for the same $35,180 (including delivery) as the 18/27 of the standard front-drive car. Now it seems that Ford has a new hybrid powertrain that will achieve 47 mpg, which could make the 2013 Lincoln MKZ even more efficient.

2013 MKZ needs a different grill. Rest of car looks great. Not so much with Baleen whale looking grill. Make it wire mesh, like Jag, and its perfect.
