The 2013 Ford Mustang has a fresh attitude, both technically and aesthetically, being ready to fight the competition and thrill the public. Since we’ve already covered the... civilian versions of the pony, it is now time to see what the 2013 Cobra Jet Mustang drag racer can do.
The vehicle was unveiled at the Performance Racing Industry Show in Orlando, Florida (we must thank Jalopnik for the scoop) and comes with a multitude of upgrades. The 2013 Cobra Jet Mustang (M-FR400-C) is lighter, comes with a roll cage and uses an electric power steering. Ford Racing has also tweaked the braking system and the suspension.

Power comes from two versions of a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine: the first one uses natural aspiration, while the second uses a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger. Ford Racing is asking $85,490 (EUR63,390) for each of the 50 units that are scheduled to arrive on the market.

"The 2008 Cobra Jet was a great car. It did everything we wanted it to do," said George Goddu, business manager, Ford Racing Performance Group. "We're really proud of that car, but we have spent the last three years improving each offering of the Cobra Jet and we are always trying to make the next one better."
