The old generation of the Audi A3 dates back to 2003 and was a reasonable success story for the German luxury automaker. We got the first taste of what the 2012 model has to offer with the three-door model launched in Geneva, but that’s not the full extent of what the new MQB platform has to offer.
Taking from the base front-drive A4 models at the bottom of the sedan rage will be this, the four-door Audi A3 sedan. The car is expected to be a huge hit on the Chinese luxury market and now autoevolution has a fresh rendering to show you what we strongly believe the car will look like.

The sedan will be 4550 mm long, about the size of a Jetta, but will offer much more in terms of interior luxury than its closest competitors. We can expect the engine range to be borrowed from the A3, meaning a revolutionary new three-cylinder engine, displacing 1.2-liters, running on diesel and producing 75 hp. The ultra-frugal unit will only put out 89 g/km of CO2.

To compete with Mercedes’s new AMG compact sedan based on the A-Class, the S3 sedan is rumored to arrive powered by a 280 hp version of the 2.0-liter TFSI.
