2012 VW Passat Commercial: Learn Spanish [Updated]

VW's latest ad for the Passat stresses the fact that you can drive the diesel version of the sedan for 13 hours between refuels and the commercial also show you what you can do with such an amount of time - learn Spanish!
Two guys somehow find themselves in the car, starting an almost 800-mile (1,300 km) journey, but without music. The driver inserts a "learn Spanish" CD and we see how the two go from pronouncing "Vamonos" as BMW's 'Vanos" to speaking fluent Spanish at the end of the ride.

You should know such automotive-destined foreign language courses actually exist, so the clip below might as well receive a "based on a true story" tag someday. Sure, it will take much more than one road trip to learn Spanish, but this Latin language is something you can master without spending a lifetime working for it.

As for the car, the Passat has to be the perfect instrument for such a task. First of all, it's German (yes, we know, this is is the US Passat) - you know they say "life is too short to learn German". So if you can't learn the language of its maker, the least this sedan could do is support you in learning other languages. Which it does.

The Passat, be it the NMS or the European model, knows how the keep the stress of a trip away from the person in the driver's seat. This is a comfortable car and one that doesn't offer too much feedback to its driver. Which means that you'll have all the time in the world to learn Spanish. Or, who knows, maybe even a little bit of German.

What can we say? Disfrutar del vídeo!
