It seems that incomplete welds can be found a bit more often than they should (a value that has to sit at absolute zero) in the contemporary automotive industry. After the Chevrolet Cruze was recently recalled for incomplete chassis welds, the 2012 Nissan Juke now has a similar issue.
Nissan is recalling 11,076 units of the crossover, which were built between February 3 and May 26 this year, due to the fact that the rear seatback may not be secured. The cause of the problem? Incomplete welds.
"Due to an incomplete weld penetration, the rear seatback striker may partially separate in a crash," the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration tells us. "In the event of a crash, the rear seatback may not be secured, increasing the risk of injury to the rear seat occupants."
The recall is scheduled to debut at the end of the current month, with Nissan dealers set to replace the seatback strikers in the affected vehicles free of charge.
