Mercedes is heating things up in the middle segment, as the company is releasing the 2012 facelifted C-Klasse. The revamp brings limited exterior and interior changes, but comes with multiple novelties for the powertrain department. All in all, the refresh has brought over 2,000 new parts for the vehicle. At the front of the vehicle, we can find a new aluminum hood, a set of redesigned headlights that use clear glass, as well as a modified bumper that comes with LED daytime running lights. The company has also brought a few changes to the rear end, which target the bumper and the taillights. The automotive producer has also worked on the interior, offering a touch of maturity. There’s a new metallic finish for the surfaces of the controls, a modified instrument cluster, new trimming (along with a new trim panel), modified center console, new instrument cluster with integrated display, a steering wheel borrowed from the CLS and others. The vehicle also comes with new assistance systems, including Attention Assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Park Assist with Parktronic, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist. We’ve saved the best (the engine range goodies) for last. Mercedes is introducing a new V6 gasoline unit for the C350 Sport Sedan. This delivers 302 hp and 273 lb-ft, while also being 5 percent more economical than the 268 hp & 258 lb-ft V6 it replaces. There’s also a 1.8 liter direct-injected turbocharged unit that delivers 201 hp and 229 lb-ft of torque and return 24 mpg. The facelifted C-Klasse, which will make its debut at the 2011 NAIAS, is scheduled to go on sale in Europe in January next year, while Americans will have to wait until the summer to get it. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
