2012 Mercedes Benz SLK US Pricing Announced

The summer is approaching fast and what you need to look cool is a SLK roadster in bright red. That’s why Mercedes has released US pricing for the car in question ahead of the market arrival, just so you can start saving up your hard-earned cash.

The 2012 SLK350 will start at $54,800, not including a $875 destination and delivery charge, which is just a bit more expensive than the soon-to-be-replaced 300 HP 2011 SLK350 is priced at $54,145 (including transportation fee).

The SLK350 is moved along by a newly developed 302 HP 3.5-liter V6. The technology found under the bonnet helps the range-topping SLK return good mileage (33 mpg) and sprint time to 60 mph of 5.4 seconds.

Top speed is pegged at 155 mph, which is plenty if you want to ruin your hair. Optional extras include a sports suspension with harder springs & dampers, and the Dynamic Handling Package. Electronic witchcraft comes in the form of the innovative (and optional) Magic Sky Control panoramic glass-roof, allowing owners to enjoy the benefits of the Airguide and Airscarf heating system.

"With the SLK we offer a wide range of technical alternatives to give customers a personal choice. Among them are a number of unique innovations. Moreover, the SLK is a prime example of how impressive performance, stylish driving comfort and high ecological standards can go hand in hand. In the 125-year history of the automobile, we have never experienced such major leaps in efficiency. Lower fuel consumption and even more driving pleasure - a formula we certainly translate into reality in the SLK," said Dr. Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management.

Unfortunately, Mercedes Benz has not released pricing for the less powerful SLK250 that is equipped with a 201 hp 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The model returns a 0-60mph acceleration time of 6.5 seconds and a combined fuel economy of 27mpg, when fitted with the standard 6-speed manual gearbox.
