While getting busy teasing us with images of its new, more compact crossover, called the JX, Nissan’s luxury division has also taken the time to remind us just why people go for their SUV in the first place: looks! The 2012 model year version of the stylish FX has just been revealed, sporting a revised look that should keep coming customers of crossover coupes happy.

The 2012MY will bring a few exciting cosmetic upgrades when it hits dealerships, in addition to the upgrades.

Let us start with the cosmetics, which will see a revised front grille and front fascia design. We’re not willing to call it an improvement, as we preferred the old grille better, but the front end of the FX is so bold that we’re still happy with the overall look.

Infiniti has also announced a new Limited Edition FX35 AWD model which improves on the design by adding exclusive Iridium Blue paint, as well as custom 21-inch 10-spoke dark alloy wheels, tinted headlights and chrome roof rail crossbars. On the inside, we get the heated front seats, which are now standard on all models, plus aluminum pedals, navigation, an Around View Monitor and a Graphite trim with blue piping on the floor mats.

The FX35 Deluxe Touring Package brings a new Graphite Shadow paint color which replaces the Platinum Graphite color and new 20-inch wheel design. In addition, this trim level comes with quilted leather heated and cooled front seats as standard.

On the engine front, the 5.0-liter V8 puts out 390 horsepower, while the venerable 3.5-liter V6 is good for 303 horsepower. Both units come as standard with 7-speed automatic transmission featuring adaptive shift control and solid magnesium paddle shifters are available. Both versions come in AWD, but the smaller V6 is available as a rear-wheel drive version as well.

Look for the 2012MY FX range to arrive in US showrooms in October 2011.
