2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas Pricing Revealed

Honda has announced the pricing for the Natural Gas version of the 2012 Honda Civic, which replaces the Civic GX. The sedan, which is scheduled to arrive in showrooms on October 18 will come with a starting price of $26,155/ EUR19,543 at the current exchange rate (plus a $750 destination charge). If you choose a navigation system, the car will set you back $27,655/EUR20,664.

Under the hood, we find a modified version of the Civic's 1.8-liter four-cylinder powerplant, which works with a standard five-speed automatic transmission, offering an EPA-rated fuel efficiency of 27 mpg city/ 38 mph highway/ 31 mpg combines, which can be translated into a 12.5 percent city fuel economy and 5.5 percent highway efficiency increase compared to the model it replaces.

The engine comes with an increased compression ratios, strengthened connecting rods, crankshaft and pistons, as well as with new fuel injectors, intake and exhaust valves and valve seats, using a 3600 psi fuel tank placed between the rear wheels.

Honda emphasizes the fact that the car makes a lot of sense in states like California, where legislation brings multiple benefits to such vehicles, such as access to HOV lanes.
