Chevrolet’s innovative compact people carrier is earmarked for a Canadian debut this October. The 2012 Orlando will is already available in Europe, but GM has not brought it over to the states yet.
However, the 7-seater MPV will be available in north of the border in just a few months, with prices starting at CAD19,995. Three trim levels will be available, with the cheapest of the bunch being the base LS version. Chevrolet dealers will be asking CAD22,295 for the higher spec LT, while for CAD29,735 you get the pick of the litter - the LTZ.
The base Orlando LS is well-equipped, coming with Electronic Stability Control as standard, plus six airbags, air conditioning, remote locking and the Orlando’s trademark flip-front stereo, with secret cubby hole.
Power will come from your run-of-the-mill 2.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine with direct-injection technology that delivers a maximum of 174 horsepower.
In base form, it will come with a six-speed manual gearbox that allows for a fuel consumption of 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers (35.1 mpg) on the highway and 10.1 liters per 100 kilometers (23.3 mpg) in the city. Meanwhile, the six-speed automatic delivers 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers (34 mpg) highway and 10.6 liters per 100 kilometers (22.2 mpg) in the city.
"The new Orlando builds on the transformation of Chevrolet's fuel efficient and versatile product portfolio, offering a family-friendly vehicle in a key segment in the Canadian market. With its expected segment-leading fuel efficiency and standard 7-passenger seating, Orlando should be a popular choice with Canadian families," said Kevin Williams, president and managing director of General Motors of Canada.
