2012 Charger, Challenger, Grand Cherokee SRT8 Act Like Hooligans

Chrysler has chosen a less conventional way to highlight the SRT brand lineup, as it hasn’t gone for a glitzy commercial with plenty of special effects, instead releasing a video showing four superstars doing their thing on the track. And unlike European manufacturers that are all serious about lap times, this is all about sideways (fun) action.

The video is filled with tire smoke, screaming V8s, tire screeches and... double stripes. The main protagonists are the Dodge Challenger SRT8, Dodge Charger SRT8, Chrysler 300 SRT8 and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. While all the cars look impressive, we have to give more credit to the Challenger that was more sideways and for longer than all the others, giving off extra smoke for bonus points.

Lets talk a bit about the cars, starting with the Grand Cherokee SRT8, which now packs a meaty 470 horsepower from its 6.4-liter V8 engine that comes mates to a five-speed automatic transmission. Performance figures are respectable: a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of 4.8 seconds, and a 160 mph top speed.

What are we saying?! All four SRT8 models are powered by the Chrysler Group’s new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with Fuel Saver Technology that pushes out out 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft (637Nm) of peak torque.

All the superstars have a 0-60 mph acceleration in the high 4-second range, can do a quarter mile in about 12 to 13 seconds and can hit more than 175 mph (281km/h) with the exception of the Jeep.

We’ll remind you that SRT has recently become it’s own king of the hill, so we expect much more awesomeness from them.
