2012 Cadillac ATS Still Has a Chance
"We're finalizing the four-door showcar of the ATS first. Then we'll follow quickly after with a wagon, a coupe and a convertible," the source said. However, keep in mind that nobody from either GM or Cadillac confirmed this, so it all remains in the rumor stage.
Still, if General Motors is indeed planning to introduce the ATS in 2012, the first public unveiling will most likely occur at one of the upcoming auto shows this year. The Paris Auto Show later this year or the next Los Angeles show have the biggest chances to witness the introduction of a prototype.
The aforementioned source noted that the ATS will compete with Infiniti G37 and Mercedes C-Klasse and will take the place of the BLS in Europe. On the other hand, it will join the North American range below the CTS.
Cadillac will attend the Geneva Motor Show in March and will display several new models new models due to go on sale in Europe, including the entire Corvette range.
"We are planning to sell all Corvette models including the Grand Sport, which has not so far been sold in Europe," a company spokesman noted when talking about Cadillac's European plans. "We are also planning to sell the Cadillac CTS family including the sedan and the new coupé as well as the Sport Wagon, CTS-V and SRX crossover models. We hope this happens as soon as possible, as we clearly want to sell these cars."
