2012 BMW M5 UK Pricing Announced at £73,040
According to the official site, when the car of choice for taking your whole family sideways on a track arrives later this year, it will cost £73,040 which is about $118,300 at the current exchange rate. However, you can bet your buck that the US version will come closer to the $85,700 MSRP of the outgoing model.
Though it’s down 50 horsepower on the 4.4-liter BMW, Jaguar offers the impressive 2012 XFR at £65,350, undercutting the M5 by more than £7,000. The British firm will reportedly also drop the 550 hp version of the same supercharged 5.0-liter engine that was introduced in the XKR-S coupe, though you can expect that to cost in the region of £100,000.
The BMW M5’s main rival has always been the RS6 quattro traction monster that offers a bit less excitement on the track, but a whole lot of grip in the real world. Unfortunately, the newest version is still some time away from actually being sold, though recent reports indicate it will have a massive 580 hp.
We’ll remind you that the new F10 M5 will run to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds. To reach 124 mph (200 km/h), the M5 needs about 13 seconds, though the electronic nanny will stop you from going over 155 mph (250 km/h), but the M-Drivers-Package brings the top speed to 189 mph (305km/h).
