Up until now, the only all-wheel drive version you could specify with either the Coupe or Convertible versions of the new BMW 6-Series was the 650i xDrive, which used the top-of the range 4.4-liter V8 turbocharged gasoline engine.
Now though, BMW has combined the grand tourer attributes of the 640d, which is the most frugal of all the powertrains, with the piece of mind provided by xDrive. So in a couple of month’s, you’ll be able to buy this jack of all trades, both as a coupe and as a convertible.
The TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter straight-six engine packs 313 horsepower and an impressive 630 Nm of torque between 1500 and 2500 rpm. In the coupe’s case, the standard 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes just 5.2 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). The car only emits 149 grams of CO2 per kilometer and does 5.7 l/100km on the combined run.
