2011 Toyota Corolla Unveiled
The model will be presented on the floor of the auto show with both visual and performance tweaks. At the exterior, the new Corolla brings a bit of Italian touch to the overall look (the car has been designed in Turin, Italy), with European cues to be seen on the front bumper, radiator grille, front lower grille, headlamps, trunk lid, rear license garnish, rear combination lamp, rear bumper and reflex reflector.
At the interior, the Corolla will get a new seat color and pattern, with a redesigned instrument panel with a multi-information display adorning the center.
Under the hood, the new Corolla hides a 1.8l DOHC four-cylinder engine which develops 132 hp at 6,000 rpm and 128 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. The engine is paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT). With the manual gearbox, the engine has been rated at 28 mpg city and 35 mpg highway.
The new Corolla is equipped with the Star Safety System (Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist), air conditioning with pollen filter, daytime running lights and cruise control.
The prices for the new interpretation of the Corolla have not yet been announced by the Japanese carmaker.
