2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport US Pricing Announced
The model is equipped with a Lancer-derived 2.0-liter engine coupled with a CVT gearbox. At only 148 hp, Mitsubishi engineers were targeting fuel economy rather then performance with the powerplant. The Sport has an official highway figure of 31 milers-per-gallon, which it achieves thanks to a drag coefficient of just 0.33. As for the gearbox, Mitsubishi will not offer a normal six-speed manual box in North America. The electronically controlled AWD can be switched to front wheel drive in order to increase fuel economy. When it comes to body size, the small crossover is about 15 inches (380 mm) shorter than the Outlander GT. The model is also lighter thanks to the use of weight-saving plastics in the front fenders.
The 2011 Outlander Sport comes in seven bold exterior colors: Cool Silver, Mercury Gray, Laguna Blue, Cosmic Blue, Rally Red, Diamond White and Labrador Black (they must be targeting dog lovers with this one).
A Navigation Package with rear-view camera costs $2,000 (EUR1,434) to spec and includes a 40GB HDD Navigation system with Music Server & Real-Time Traffic (RDS) and Rear View Camera System. Other cool options for this crossover include a the Larger Tailgate Spoiler ($335 or EUR240), Remote Engine Start ($595 or EUR426) and a 6 CD Changer for $360 (EUR258).
