The powerplant line-up makeover starts with the CL550 4Matic which comes with a 4.6 liter V8 unit that uses direct injection and turbocharging to deliver 429 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, with the unit offering a 15 percent fuel economy improvement and 23 percent CO2 reduction. Mated to a seven speed automatic transmission, the engine pushes the big coupe to 60 mph in 4,9 seconds.
The next model in the range is the CL600, which offers a twin-turbo 5.5 liter V12 unit that produces 510 hp and a maximum torque of 612 lb-ft, allowing the two-door vehicle to leave the 60 mph mark behind in just 4.5 seconds.
The CL63 AMG has ditched the naturally aspirated 6.2 liter V8 for the new twin turbo, direct injection V8 that offers 536 hp and 590 lb-ft and using a AMG MCT gearbox. At the top of the range we find the CL65 AMG, which allows its driver to play with 621 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.
Both the standard and AMG versions of the 2011 CL will be fitted with a new grille, bi-xenon headlights that use LED technology for the signals and daytime running lights, LED god lamps, revised fenders and hood, as well as LED taillights and new exhaust pipes.
As expected, the vehicle will also be packed with technology, offering goodies such as Active Blind Spot Assist, Attention Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Night View Assist Plus and Active Body Control.
