2011 Jaguar XJ First Video Teaser Released
The teaser, presenting the car from above, brings us a sportier looking XJ, with a more athletic stance. The new XJ will be the first cat to use an aluminum body, inspired by the space technology.
Engine wise, the new Jaguar will use the so called third generation engines. The powerplant range will include a 3.0l V6 and most likely a new 5.0l V8, developing a whopping 510 horsepower. The engine range could be wider, as the current generation for instance makes use of four different types of engines.
XJ hybrid will have an electric range of 30 miles (48 km), a fuel consumption rating of 57 miles per gallon (5l/100 km) and CO2 emissions rated at 120g/km. Still, this news has not been yet confirmed by Jaguar and, even if they choose to go hybrid, it will not be for some years to come.
The XJ will come in a choice of either standard or long wheelbase versions. Jaguar claims it will "introduce the highest standards of personal luxury and specification, including a panoramic glass roof."
Full details about the new luxury sedan will surface on June 9, when the car is officially detailed. Jaguar says that the car will be available as soon as the end of 2009, but most likely deliveries will begin in early 2010.
