2011 Hyundai Elantra Interior Teaser
And now, that's not one of their features, but a curios market strategy that's supposed to keep Elantra fans connected. In other words, Hyundai hid the car's interior and chose to roll out teasers, with a full unveiling probably scheduled for the time when the model will go on sale.
We do know however that the cabin offers "advanced features not found on other compacts," as the South Korean automaker said at the show, with equipment including heated rear seats, ambient lighting, and a color TFT LCD information display. And the renderings rolled out today prove us that this is indeed true, but the overall design is much more futuristic than anybody expected.
The new Elantra, which borrows design elements from the new Accent and from the redesigned Sonata, will go on sale in South Korea in 2011 and will be powered by a 1.6-liter Gamma GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) four-cylinder engine, developing 140 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque (167 Nm). The unit is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
"The new Avante encompasses Hyundai's latest ambitions, featuring the best styling and performance in its class. We're confident that it will once again redefine the compact segment worldwide," said Steve S. Yang, president and CEO of Hyundai's Global Business Division.
