Honda has taken the on-line wraps off the Honda Accord 2011 model year facelift, with both the Sedan and the Coupe model receiving exterior changes, additional features and improved fuel efficiency for certain powerplants.
The exterior changes are mostly focused on the front fascias, which now use the design language introduced by the more or less eye-delighting Accord Crosstour. Both versions have received a new front grille and revised bumpers. The cars also comes with redesigned rear bumpers, new lightweight alloy rims, while the sedan’s tail lights have been redesigned.
The refreshed models come with the already-introduced 177 hp or 190 hp 2.4 liter and 271 hp 3.5 liter V6 engines. However, Honda says that the vehicles offer improved mpg thanks to the use of revised aerodynamics, reduced internal engine friction and modified transmission ratios.
Most of the models have to make due with five speed automatic and manual transmissions, with the V6 coupe being the only one to offer a six speed manual as an option.
The company claims that the EPA fuel economy ratings of the sedan models powered by 4 cylinder units using automatic transmissions have been improved by 2 mpg for the city and 3 mpg on the highway, with the vehicles offering a 23/34 mpg rating respectively. The V6 version of the four-door comes with a preliminary EPA rating improvement of 1 mpg, offering 19 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
The interior of the car now offers better ergonomics, with the controls having been regrouped. In addition to that, the instrument cluster offers a new layout and the seats offer a fresh finish.
The vehicles come with a more generous list of features, such as USB connection for the coupe models and EX & EX-L sedans, a rear view camera for sedans fitted with the optional Honda Satellite-Linked satnav and steering wheel paddle shifters for the EX-L V6 Coupe.
The revamped versions of the 2011 Accord Sedan and Coupe will arrive in U.S. showrooms during the course of August.
