2011 Ford Mondeo Facelift Officially Unveiled

After the set of spyshots that showed the facelifted version of the Mondeo we brought you yesterday, Ford’s European division took the wraps off the sedan today. The new model, scheduled to make public debut at the 2010 Moscow Auto Show on August 25, has a revised exterior and interior look, as well as upgraded powertrains and safety features.

Initial images of the car show new grilles featuring a bolder lower trapezoid and a slim opening above, plus an enhanced bonnet profile. Exterior changes also include new front bumpers with LED daytime running lights, and redesigned rear lights that also employ LED technology. In addition, a new rear deck lid treatment matches the revised rear light profile.

Inside, the 2011 Mondeo has a new centre console design, revised door treatment and a new central overhead console with ambient lighting. The facelift also comes with new trim materials across the range. New features include the introduction of LED courtesy lights and a new satellite navigation system, as well as a new Premium Sound System option which incorporates a 265-watt, eight-channel amplifier unit, all-new speaker system and a 17-litre subwoofer.

Offered as a 4- or 5-door hatchback or as an estate, the new Mondeo will come with new EcoBoost units, namely the 2.2-litre TDCi with 200 bhp and the 2.0-litre petrol delivering 240 bhp which comes with the PowerShift transmission and delivers 179 g/km of CO2.

Safety wise, the sedan will feature Lane Departure Warning, Driver Alert and Auto High Beam, as well as Blind Spot Information System, Speed Limiter, Rear Door Power Child Locks and Rear View Camera.

The 2011 Ford Mondeo is scheduled to arrive at European dealerships sometime this fall. Further info on the powertrains, specs and prices will be revealed closer to the market launch.
