Buick has already confirmed that it plans to revive the Regal nameplate in the United States and launch a new model in 2010 - to be sold as model year 2011 - but only a little was known at that time. GM's core brand goes further with its reluctance to provide details about the future Regal but the company today rolled out two spyshots giving us a glimpse into how the future model will look like.

The spyshots, published on the official Facebook profile belonging to Buick, do not show too many thinks, other than the fact that Regal will come in the form of a mid-size sedan, probably boasting premium interior features.

Buick Regal is still available in China but the company will most likely replace it with the new model in 2010 when it intends to

simultaneously launch the car in both the US and China.

“The transformation of Buick began with our luxury crossover, the Buick Enclave and continued this year with the launch of the 2010 LaCrosse premium sedan,” said Susan Docherty, Buick GMC General Manager. “We’re thrilled to announce that the Regal will be the next member of the Buick family.”

Obviously, General Motors hopes the Regal nameplate will record the same success as the previous model and record at least the same success as the current LaCrosse.

"The Regal name has played a very important role in Buick’s history for many years and continues to be one of the top Buick nameplates recalled by consumers even though it’s been out of the market for the past six years,"
the company said in a press statement.
