The first weekend of February brought with it exciting news from Germany, as BMW released full details and an extensive gallery of photos showing the facelifted version of the X5. According to the carmaker, the new X5 comes with an entirely revised range of engines, design modifications and tweaked driver assistance systems.

All the models of the new line come with EfficientDynamics and eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. There will be four engine choices, as listed below, with the BMW X5 xDrive50i taking point in the new line up as the top of the line unit.

The BMW X5 xDrive50i is powered by a 4.4l TwinPower Turbo V8, developing 407 bhp at 5,500 – 6,400 rpm and 600 Nm at 1,750 – 4,500 rpm. It accelerates from naught to sixty in 5.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 250 km/h.

The BMW X5 xDrive35i comes with a six-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo, outputting 306 bhp at 5,800 rpm and 400 Nm at 1,200 – 5,000 rpm. The X5 xDrive40d uses a diesel six cylinder unit, developing 306 bhp at 4,400 rpm and 600 Nm at 1,500 – 2,500 rpm.

The entry level X5 xDrive30d is powered by a six cylinder diesel unit which develops 245 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 540 Nm at 1,750 – 3,000 rpm.

On the outside, BMW revised the color choice, which now includes Deep Sea Blue, Platinum Grey and Sparkling Bronze. The car received corona rings headlights (the so called angel eyes) with full LEDs, while the rear taillights received a L-shaped LED design.

On the inside, the new X5 adds optional leather trim Nevada in Cinnamon Brown and Oyster, as well as a matt Satin Silver trim strip. The new BMW X5 is equipped as standard with iDrive control system with 6.5-inch control display (or 8.8-inch display when ordered in conjunction with the navigation system Professional).

According to BMWblog, the new X5 will be priced in the US in between $46,675 for the X5 xDrive35i and $59,275 for the X5 xDrive50i.
