Tired of seeing its newest version of the X3 getting the spotlight thanks to spy-photographers, German carmaker BMW released yesterday a sizeable gallery showing the model. Unfortunately, it still wears the psychedelic camo we are already used to by now.
Set to debut if official street clothing at this September's Paris Auto Show (were autoevolution will be present), the new X3 is expected to generate at least the same sales as the current generation.
With that in mind, BMW tried to review, tweak and change just about everything it could for the new model, including increasing its overall dimensions. Even so, the model will not be heavier, but actually lighter by some 25 kg (55 lbs).
A more prominent grille will also make it into production, along with new wraparound headlights. Inside, BMW used better quality materials, in an attempt to make the car face competition from other German rivals, such as the Audi Q5 and Mercedes Benz GLK. Changes are also visible at the back, where the carmaker went for more rounded lines than in the current generation.
Under the hood, the car will likely get a 3.0l twin-turbo engine, similar to the one available on the 335i. A 2.0l turbodiesel, with output exceeding 204 horsepower, is also likely to be used. A hybrid version to go with the rest of the engine line-up might also be considered by BMW.
As said, the car will be unveiled at the Paris show later this year. Until then, it is likely that more and more info and possibly more revealing photos will be released.
