To be launched later this year, in November, the model will be sold starting from $78,050 (4.2 NWB quattro), with no destination charge, taxes, title, options and dealer charges included. The price list of the A8 ends at $84,000 for the 4.2 LWB quattro version.
Under the hood of the A8 Audi has fitted a 4.2l FSI V8 engine that develops 372 horsepower and 445 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. The figures are enough to make the car accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds on its way to the electronically-limited maximum speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
The engine is paired to an 8-speed tiptronic transmission which makes the new A8 model be 15 percent more fuel efficient compared to its predecessors.
For the base price, Audi promises to offer one of the most technological advanced models available. The A8 will come equipped with Bang & Olufsen Advanced sound system, Night vision assistant with pedestrian detection, Adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, Audi lane assist, Audi side assist, ESP stability control with electronic all-wheel-drive torque vectoring, Audi braking guard and automatic emergency braking.
“The new Audi A8 is the sportiest sedan in its segment," Rupert Stadler, Audi chairman of the board said when the car was introduced. "It combines numerous functions in a new and intelligent way. And it's unmatched in the stylistic elements and impression of the interior."
