2010 World Record Red Bull Snowmobile Jump

The video of what was supposed to be the highlight of the Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. event has been released on YouTube, revealing what you won’t see on New Year’s Eve: a world record snowmobile jump performed by Levi LaVallee.

The jump has been canceled after LaVallee injured himself during practice, but not before he eclipsed the current record with this 361 feet (110m) jump in San Diego. This jump will be submitted for world record certification.

LaVallee has used artificial turf on his 1,100-foot (335m) run-up path, which proved to be enough to provide the necessary grip for his snowmobile’s track to ensure maximum speed as he hit the take-off ramp.

In the meantime, LaVallee has been released from the hospital and will continue his recovery in Minnesota.

"I am out of the hospital and on my way home to Minnesota. When I jumped 361 feet during testing, I was pumped and felt I could fly even further on December 31 at Red Bull: New Year. No Limits., but unfortunately it didn't work out that way and I will be ringing in the new year a little differently than originally planned,” said LaVallee to his fans after getting released from the hospital.

“I'm of course disappointed, but the most important thing is that I'm recovering and hope to get back on my sled soon. Thanks to everyone who has wished me well. The amazing amount of support really means a lot. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!" he added.

LaVallee’s record jump can be seen in the video below:
