Presented at the end of July as one of the most exciting new entries in Audi's lineup in 2010, the A7 Sportback will be meeting its future customers at the 2010 Paris Auto Show starting this weekend. Until then however, the gates of the show have opened for the media.
To be launched on the market later this fall and wearing a price tag of EUR51,650 ($66,520), the new A7 will be offering four engine choices: 2.8 FSI (204 hp/280 Nm of torque, S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive), 3.0 TFSI (300 hp/440 Nm of torque, S tronic and the quattro powertrain) and two versions of the 3.0 TDI (245 hp/500 Nm of torque, 204 hp and 400 Nm of torque).
Built mostly out of aluminum components, the A7 Sportback targets directly the BMW 5 Series GT. To be able to fight the most controversial BMW since the X6, Audi has to build into the car all the features which would give the model an edge over the rival.
The model is equipped with automatic air conditioning system, keyless ignition via the engine start-stop button, four-spoke leather multifunction steering wheel, xenon headlights, LED tail lights, MMI radio with a 6.5-inch monitor, electromechanical parking brake, power rear hatch, 18-inch alloy wheels and an acoustic windshield.
Safety wise, the A7 cuts no corners either, being packed with technology ranging from airbags to the new adaptive cruise control with stop & go function (ACC) and the Audi side assist (a variation of the lane departure warning system).
As said, the model is on display in Paris for all to see. If you can't get there though, take a look at the photos we shot at the event.
