I Want to Drive!... Even if my financial situation is a bit far from tying up with that of my colleague Bach, you probably already know I'm not actually poor either. And that's just to be modest. Yet, I don't like helicopters and I only use planes if I really have to. I'm a fan (age ... Continue reading >

Despite the fact that the official release of the new XJ is still some 10 hours away, starting late last night, explicit photos - sort of speak - showing the new Cat have hit the web. The photos were leaked by netcarshow.com and may come as a spoiler for those who have been waiting for the official unveiling of the XJ.

As we said, the car will be introduced tonight, in an event held at the Saatchi Gallery in London, hosted by Jay Leno. Until then and despite these pictures, no official technical details have been released.

Yesterday though, Jaguar let slip the XJ will be powered by the ultra-efficient third generation petrol and diesel engines, including the supercharged V6 diesel, which develops a whooping 510 hp.

Additional rumors say the new XJ will be powered by engines including a 3.0l V6 and most likely a new 5.0l V8, the latter developing around 510 horsepower. Perhaps the most sought after piece of information is whether the XJ will come with a hybrid powerplant as well. Of course, rumors say it will, and even give technical details about the unit: an electric range of 30 miles (48 km), a fuel consumption rating of 57 miles per gallon (5l/100 km) and CO2 emissions rated at 120g/km

Jaguar has also confirmed that the XJ will come in a choice of both standard and long wheelbase models. By their accounts, the new XJ "will introduce the highest standards of personal luxury and specification, including an innovative panoramic glass roof."

Little is left before full details and gallery of the XJ will be made available, so keep an eye out for updates.
