Are Modern Car Seats Too Firm?... ... I might be called a weirdo after this article, but as the comments here might already suggest, I'm more than OK with getting flamed for exposing my opinion. 2010 Geneva Auto Show: Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept [Live Photos]
- Subaru presents the new Hybrid Tourer concept
- It is displayed at Geneva
- It employs a 2.0-liter engine plus two electric motors
The first eye-catchy things are surely the gull-wing doors that perfectly shows how roomy the car's interior actually is. And speaking of interior, the first thing you'll notice is the top of the dashboard which, as the manufacturer describes it, is movable up and down to provide an optimal driving environment. The windshield features special shielding to reduce eyestrain on the driver, while the leather upholstery is specially developed to provide increased breathability and ventilation.
The powertrain is build upon Subaru's Horizontally-Opposed engine and its very own Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. The 2.0-liter direct fuel-injection turbo gasoline engine is mated to a Lineartronic (CVT) transmission, specifically optimized for reduced fuel consumption and emission.
The car also employs a hybrid two-motor system that comprises both a front- and rear-mounted unit for improved performance. The way it works is quite simple: at low speeds, the concept uses only the rear motor, without engine power, thus keeping fuel consumption and emissions down to zero.
During normal driving, the combustion engine is the one that handles all the power but when the driver accelerates, the rear unit comes into play and provides more power. The front unit on the other hand is used when accelerating uphill, thus increasing power and improving performance. Just as expected, the car is also equipped with a lithium-ion battery that is connected to the two electric motors as well as non-idling functions for further reducing of CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
Here is a brief look on Subaru Hybrid Tourer concept's technical specs list:
