The Camaro, already dubbed as being the event's attraction, a bright yellow, 6.2l V8-powered monster, one of only two right hand drive units Down Under, will mark the market launch for local customers during the event. The conversion to right hand drive has been made at Performax International's Gympie, Queensland, facility and the car is already awaiting registration in all Australian States and Territories.
As said, it will lead an impressive array of American muscle... Joining the Camaro will be a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe, powered by a supercharged 5.4l V8. A Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD sports truck, featured in Performax's (the cars' importer) exclusive showroom catalogue, will show off its 6.6l turbodiesel V8 and the 4.5 ton towing capacity it offers.
"Nikon SuperGP spectators will be reminded of the muscle car heritage when Australia's most famous racing Camaro, Kevin Bartlett's Channel Nine-sponsored machine, roars out on to the Surfers Paradise street circuit with its original driver in the Australian Legends Category, which will be an exciting new feature of the annual motorsport extravaganza," Performax said in a release.
NikonGP opens its door today and comes with a modified scheduled, to give those attending more on track time for V8 Supercar drivers. A new category will be introduced, to "celebrate the legends of Australian motorsport and their great machines, who each day of the event will undertake a 25 minute on-track session at race pace."
