2010 Caterham Academy, Almost Full

The Caterham Academy has introduced more than 700 people to motor racing since 1995, taking them through the race license process and their first season of racing in sprints, hillclimbs and track events. For the 2010 series, Caterham says its Academy has almost run out of slots.

Though there are six months left until the 2010 Caterham Academy series kiks-off, and despite the £17,995 spicy price for the package, the company says there are only 10 places left.

“With the current economic climate, we always knew that 2009 was going to be a hard year,” said Caterham Motorsport Manager, Simon Lambert, in a statement for the press. “We wondered whether to cut the field in half but talked ourselves into sticking to what we normally do and, as it turns out, we needn’t have worried."

“The competitive price of the package, which includes your car, tuition and the full season of racing, has obviously appealed to even cash-strapped novices,”
he added.

The Academy package includes:
  • Caterham 7 Roadsport (1.6 125 bhp) - a complete road-legal car for self-assembly
  • Academy Seminar - an introduction to the year ahead with hints and tips on everything from building your car to buying the right crash helmet.
  • Set-up day - learn how to tune the car to suit your driving.
  • ARDS Test + Medical - to get the racing licence.
  • Circuit test day - final testing before the first event.
  • All licence, club membership, entry fees and registration fees.
  • Handling Day
  • 3 championship speed events - sprints and hillclimbs.
  • 4 championship circuit races - race head to head on the circuit.
  • Plus technical support, timing transponder, circuit guide, document bag and an Academy information pack.
