2009 Citroen C3 Details and Photos

The new Citroen C3, coming to markets in November this year, has some big shoes (or rubbers) to fill. French manufacturer Citroen has set a its eyes on beating the previous generation's 2 million units sold record with a very "down to earth' approach: "take the best of the C3 and make it even better".

“This is a major renewal for the Marque and gives us the wherewithal to achieve our target of increasing market share even more, among both individual and corporate customers,” Frederic Banzet, Citroen managing director said.

Fitted with Citroen's HDi 90 DPFS engine, the new C3 is expected to "make others green with envy". Although no official figures for fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been released for the new model, Citroen expects that after giving the C3 a start/stop system sometimes in 2011, CO2 emission levels are expected to drop under 100g/km.

As for the design, the new C3 boasts a sportier edge with tauter, smoother lines. It uses a Zenith windscreen, combined with slimmer pillars, providing front occupants with a field of vision by 80 degrees upwards.

The new C3 will come equipped with RD4 mp3 audio system, the USB Box (USB slot + jack, full iPod compatibility, Bluetooth hands-free kit) and MyWay navigation.

“With the new C3, Citroen is opening up a new automobile universe. A universe where reason and responsibility leave room for new driving pleasure. And new sensations,” Vincent Besson, Citroen product and markets added.

Unfortunately, this is all Citroen said about their compact so far. Additional details, regarding engines and trim levels are expected to surface closer to the release date.
