Audi today announced that a specially crafted 2009 R8 model will be auctioned at the upcoming Naples Winter Wine Festival in Naples, Florida. The R8 is finished in Ibis White and features a black Fine Nappa leather interior plus Alcantara and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. The Naples Winter Wine Festival will being on February 6 while the R8 auction is scheduled for Saturday, February 7. All proceeds from the charity event will go to the Naples Children & Education Foundation.

“The Naples Winter Wine Festival is ranked among the top 10 arts and entertainment events for wealthy Americans. The June 2006 ranking by the Luxury Institute is based on exclusivity, quality and prestige. The event brings many of the world’s finest vintners and chefs together with wine collectors and philanthropists for a three-day gala in picturesque Naples, Florida,” organizers say about the upcoming event.

Since 2001, the Naples Winter Wine Festival managed to raise more than 69 million dollars for the aforementioned foundation, with nearly $14 million raised in 2008. In case you're thinking to attend the festival, you should probably know that a couple has to pay no less than $7,500 for a single entry ticket.

Getting back to the car, the 2009 Audi R8 special version is almost similar to the one you know, with a six-speed R-tronic transmission, LED daytime running lights, sport seats and a powerful 4.2-liter FSI V8 engine that helps it accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in no less than 4.4 seconds.

“The exhilarating launch from a stop, the sheer thrill of making 90-degree turns at a rail-riding 35 mph, all the while listening to the rumbling purr of the V-8 mounted behind you. You and your passengers will laugh with abandon while passersby gawk with brazen envy,” it is mentioned in the description of auction lot #22, the one that includes the R8.
