From April 8 to 10, Barrett-Jackson will auction off a lot of four-wheeled exotica. The Annual Florida Auction is also the place where a 2006 Ford GT with less than 5 miles on the clock will cross the auction block. You've heard that right.
To put that mileage into perspective, your nearest Walmart is a longer drive than that. This mid-engined supercar may be 10 years old, but you’re actually looking at a time capsule. As you can also see in the photo gallery below, the Ford GT presents itself in the state it was delivered. Even the transport stickers and the shrink wrap can be found in their rightful place.
Throughout the production life of the first-generation Ford GT, the manufacturer produced 4,038 units. 343 of those are Heritage Edition vehicles and this is one of them. As the name implies, the distinguishing detail about this Ford GT is the go-faster Gulf Oil blue and orange livery. Barrett-Jackson mentions that VIN 1FAFP90S96Y400781 comes with original documentation from FoMoCo, including the window sticker, books, and manual, as well as the original sticker kit in its similarly original box.
As is the case with every other 2004-2007 Ford GT, this Heritage Edition is motivated by a 5.4-liter Modular V8 with a supercharger bolted on top for good measure. Horsepower? A lot, as in 550. Torque? 500 lb-ft (678 Nm). The Ricardo six-speed manual transmission is connected to a helical limited-slip differential, which makes the Ford GT an ideal car for hooning.
Then again, if 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) is your thing, the awe-inspiring GT can hit that in as low as 3.3 seconds with the factory Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. To put that acceleration time into perspective, a Porsche 911 Carrera S (991) is slower. Then again, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with the seven-speed stick shift does it a tenth of a second quicker than this brute from the Noughties.
