1980 BMW M1 AHG for Sale, Priced at Over $200,000

BMW’s M1 supercar is already a rare bird. It was the first one in a long series of M cars but it was also built in really small numbers. However, there is an ever rarer edition out there as well. We’re talking about the AHG models out of which only 10 were ever made, to celebrate the production end of BMW’s only mid-engine car.

It is believed they were built between 1981 and 1982 (but it was never confirmed) and have been known to be sold at various auctions for prices in excess of $350,000. Therefore, when we stumbled upon this one on eBay, we had to share it with you. Who knows, maybe this is your chance to own one.

The bidding has reached the $200,000 limit at the time of this writing, with 27 bids. Signs are, things will go up in the near future, especially since there are 4 more days to go on until the bidding stops.

According to the seller, this car is “all original and unrestored with no aftermarket parts or upgrades

Specs and features include a 350 bhp, 3,453 cc M88 DOHC inline six-cylinder engine with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, five-speed manual transmission, front and rear dual A-arm independent suspension with coil springs, and four-wheel disc brakes.

That’s all true but it’s in no way supposed to differentiate this car from the rest of the AHG models. What does set it apart is the exterior paint scheme because each of these 10 was apparently painted in a different color/scheme.

As to what separates ‘normal M1s’ from AHG ones, you should know that the latter category includes a racing clutch, a 350 HP engine, new front spoiler, wider front and rear fenders, new side skirts, special rear wing, height-adjustable racing suspension and 3 piece BBS wheels. Basically, it looks like a Procar version. This one seems to fit the bill.
