Classic Ferraris are known to command hundreds of thousands of dollars at auctions around the world. However, when the magic "250" appears in their name, the amount can jump past the $10 million mark.
It happened two years ago with the 1957 250 Testa Rossa that sold for no less than $17 million, and it happened again a couple of days ago when a 250 LM built in 1964 fetched $14.3 million, becoming the the third most expensive Ferrari ever sold at auction. The most expensive one is a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 hammered at $27.5 million.

The 250 LM was the only vehicle to sell for more than $10 million at the RM Auctions event in New York, but two more cars found new owners for more than $5 million - a unique 1938 Talbot-Lago T150-C SS ($7.1 million) and a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT SWB ($7 million).
