The Starfire name was used by two other older models, but 1961 market the first generation of the Oldsmobile Starfire as a standalone car.
This model, the Starfire Hardtop Coupe joined the convertible for the 1962 model year. They shared many bits of sheetmetal with other GM cars and they went unappreciated, so not a lot of them are left on the road.
This one comes with the smaller 394 engine, a 6.5-liter V8 motor, which used a 4-barrel Rochester carburetor and generated 330 hp. However, don’t expect this two-ton beast to really shift along, because it’s got a 3-speed automatic box.
The seller says that both the engine and the gearbox have been rebuilt and everything is in working order on the car.
If you’re not looking for a muscle car and are taken with the silver/black body, it will make you a happy man, provided you’ve got the the $18,500 that the selling is asking on this eBay auction.
