1958 BMW Baroque Angel Can Be Yours for $29,500

Originally, the BMW 501 was the one called Baroque Angel by the enthusiasts but since the 502 is basically the same car with more power thanks to a V8, the same name applied to the more recent sedan. That’s right, the name refers to the design of the cars and not their performance.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Back in 1952 BMW was introducing the one that ended up being named 501. It was a time when simplicity dictated and we didn’t have the 3 Series, 5 Series or other models. Back then, a simple number would be all you need to name a car, without any letters or ‘xDrive’ monikers.

Unlike all the cars that came before it after the war, the 501 was built on an all-new platform that was a lot more up-to-date with the findings in the field. Living proof were the new double A-arm front suspension with torsion bar springs, a new steering mechanism, a perimeter frame and so on.

The 501 came out beautiful and the 502 is exactly the same but features more luxurious options inside as standard compared to its less powerful brother. It had individual front seats, a more powerful engine and was considered the fastest sedan of the time, despite having just 100 horsepower at its disposal.

Due to its relatively high price at the time, few of them were actually built and sold. In the first year, for example, only 190 were delivered to customers. Therefore, the car we’re showing you today is not only a classic but also a rarity, perfect for a collection.

The seller wants $29,500 for it and it does look pristine. According to the ad, the odometer has just 19,884 miles on it (32,013 km) and it’s a manual, of course. Is it worth it? Yes but not if you plan on making it your daily driver!

This is one for a collection, as we said, and to get it in top notch condition, you might have to invest a little more. However, you’ll be the lucky owner of a ‘Baroque Angel’ and that’s nothing to scoff about!
